Our team

We’re a tight-knit team blending high-level technical expertise with proactive,
hands-on support and project management.

Mike Carroll

Founder and Principal Consultant

Mike has been working in IT for close to 20 years and before launching his own business was the head of IT at one of New Zealand's largest magazine publishers.

While Mike has a strong technical background and senior leadership experience, he won’t bore you with jargon, acronyms or management speak. Mike works with you to find strategies that make sense for your business.

Brightly values sustainability and regeneration, which is reflected by Mike’s enthusiasm for the outdoors. When he’s not working or spending time with his family, you’ll find him getting into the wilds for trail running and photography.

Andy Walsh

Co-founder and Technical Consultant

Andy has more than 15 years’ experience in IT across the tourism, publishing and trade sectors.

Andy sees himself as a generalist and applies a holistic approach to his work, leveraging experience from systems and network engineer roles as well as more recent positions as a solutions architect. His attention to detail and focus on diverse and secure solutions combine to deliver resilient and reliable systems.

Outside of the office, Andy can usually be found searching for new trails to ride and mountains to ski.

Nives Kolaric-Penman

Manager – Business Systems
and Operations

With her detailed and patient approach, Nives takes the time to understand and document customer needs and requirements, then designs and implements solutions that work best for them. A diverse background across hospitality, HR, and Government means she has particular skills in stakeholder management, training, creating documentation and supporting clients in achieving organisational goals through the smart use of technology. Having recently learned to surf, Nives’ happy place is being by the sea, and her day is not complete without a good HIIT workout or Pilates session.

Pete Gomez

Business Analyst / Consultant

With extensive experience in publishing, Pete calls on specialist skills in media technology and creative software in his role supporting our clients through customer support and management, business and systems analysis and project delivery. His high attention to detail, and his ability to understand and communicate technical concepts in non-technical speak consistently deliver positive outcomes to the businesses we work with.

While he is largely kept busy with dad duties outside of work, he also has a keen interest in football, photography and travelling.

Lorena Tames

Business Support Manager

Lorena’s role blends business sustainability, procurement, customer support and marketing. For her it’s a chance to combine her business administration knowledge with her 13 years of experience in the IT industry to contribute to a company that is doing its bit to make a positive impact. Keeping all these important operational cogs in our business moving calls for someone who is adaptable, with a can-do approach, and we love the positive way that Lorena helps to keep Brightly ticking behind the scenes so our customers have the best experience, and the team can do their best work.

Nick Berry

Customer Support Specialist

Nick supports our customers in resolving issues and advancing projects. With previous experience in service desk and support roles, it was Brightly’s B Corp status and the opportunity to learn within a supportive team environment that drew Nick to join us. With his great communication and people skills he’s the ideal person to offer friendly, knowledgeable advice that supports our customers and helps them succeed. When he is not responding to queries, he’ll be out having a hit on the tennis court or catching a movie.

Technical Support Analyst

Arsenio Dondoyano

Arsenio is a friendly and knowledgeable voice on the other end of your help request, providing day-to-day technical support to our clients. Having worked as a desktop support technician for a number of years, he knows his way around hardware, software, operating systems and cloud technologies to help our clients troubleshoot and resolve technical roadblocks. It's important to Arsenio to create strong, positive relationships with our customers, and to help more businesses understand how they can create a positive impact through their use of technology.

Technical Support Analyst

Ethan Yuen

Ethan is responsible for resolving technical issues for our customers. He spends his day troubleshooting, providing remote support and maintaining documentation. With a bachelor’s degree in computer science and information systems, along with post-graduate and master’s degrees in information systems, he really knows his stuff, and has a particular interest in cyber security, recognising the critical need to protect individuals and organisations. He loves being a part of a company that not only prioritises customer success, but also strives to create a sustainable and inclusive future.

Tamara Cummins

Project Manager

With her calm, professional and organised approach, Tamara leads us in delivering successful projects for our customers. Tamara’s more than 20 years' experience in project management means she brings sound judgement, adaptability and strong attention to detail – just the kind of skills that come in handy with our high-pressure projects. Having worked across a range of sectors, Tamara is now excited to help us deliver positive impact on the environment and community through IT strategies. She enjoys a challenge, and it seems there’s plenty of that outside of the office too with a Blue Heeler pup to keep her on her toes!

Lighting the way for positive impact through IT

We’re making the world a little better for people, planet and communities, one support ticket at a time.

We think that doing good business means achieving more than commercial success. We’re driven by a strong sense of social responsibility. We value fairness, diversity, and making more conscious considerations when it comes to caring for the planet. So, we started Brightly to support values-aligned organisations who also want to do business better. Our solutions align IT strategy with sustainability and social justice goals to maximise efficiency while minimising impact.

As a B Corp-certified organisation, we’re accountable for the impact of our business, too. We’re a Toitū climate positive organisation, living wage certified, offer impact-partner pricing to non-profits, donate to chosen charities through One Percent Collective and keep sustainability at the heart of our approach.

Why us

We’re the first B Corp–certified IT services company in Aotearoa.

We’re clear on what we stand for, what matters to us and how we work.

We’ve ensured that Brightly is a place where our people can do their best work.

We’re walking the talk when it comes to having a positive impact on the world around us.

What our clients say

“I find it very easy to just pick up the phone and ask any questions. Brightly understand how our business is run, and the need to be cost-conscious. They’re personable and very easy to deal with. Nothing’s ever really an issue, they are always willing to find the right solution.”
