#Tech4Good - How we’re doing our bit to create industry change

As an IT services business, it’s important to us to consider how we can reduce the negative impacts of technology, while maximising its positive impacts for our customers. Much of our work is helping organisations use technology to make their operations efficient and secure, improving their ability to scale through the use of technology, and ensuring their resources can be better focused on their own impact projects.

To share more on our approach, Brightly founder and Principal Consultant, Mike Carroll, joined the panel on a recent #Tech4Good event. He talked about the steps that Brightly is taking to have a positive impact through the work that we do, the way we run Brightly as a business, the customers we work with and the direct impact we can have through supporting community and charity initiatives.

Business as a force for good

In particular, he talked about the process of achieving B Corp certification, working in alignment with the B Corp values and using the assessment framework as a guide for continual improvement across all areas of our business.

The online #Tech4Good event, organised by Cogo in Partnership with Grow Good, also showcased speakers from two other Kiwi B Corp organisations, Traction on Demand/Trineo and Springload.

Check out the link below to hear more on the recent projects these organisations are working on, and their approach to using their business as a force for good.

As Mike mentions in the discussion, one of our impact goals is to help grow the B Corp community. Being a part of this community ourselves has helped us connect with likeminded people and organisations, who have a common goal of using business as a force for good - like Cogo. The Cogo team organise the monthly Tech4Good meet-ups, where each month they host guest speakers covering different topics and industries.

Their next event is scheduled for January; you can find out more about the #Tech4Good meetups here
